Terry Monroe has been
in the business of establishing, successfully operating, and selling businesses
for more than 25 years. At American Business Brokers, he serves as a consultant
for business buyers and sellers throughout the nation, while his knowledge and
expertise in multi-store operations and sales has led to several multi-million
dollar transactions. As an expert source in the c-store industry, he writes a
routine “Financial Insights” guest
column for Convenience Store News and has been featured in CSP, NPN,
and NACS magazines. For nearly a decade, his in-depth knowledge of enterprising,
franchising, financing, and acquisitions have generated over 400 successful transactions
for ABB, most of them in the convenience store industry.
As an owner of more than 30 different businesses and 10 different
franchises, Terry has a thorough understanding of business growth and enterprise
management. With ABB, Terry has created a unique organization that is a leader
in the c-store industry, offering broker and consulting services to business
buyers and sellers, while also developing brokers through a comprehensive training
program. Through ABB, Terry has developed a personal side to the business transaction.
The company offers services to clients regarding valuations, mergers and acquisitions,
business sales, and franchise opportunities with the focus on finding a business
that suits the lifestyle and cash flow needs of the buyer, while managing the
transaction for the seller.
Throughout his career, Terry has been
a business leader. He has served as president and chief operating officer for
five organizations, including New Sprit Inc., C&M Video Inc., Entertainment One Inc., TPM Inc., and American
Business Brokers Inc. Terry’s business ventures range from the discovery
of more than 20 million barrels of oil in the St. James Oil Field, to the founding
and franchising of a national video store chain, to involvement with Wal-Mart
Stores, Inc., as a video rental provider that included 750 employees in 155 stores
in 27 states and 2 countries.
Seeking adventure in the business world
and in his own life, Terry is an accomplished mountaineer, aircraft pilot, musician
and philanthropist. He has climbed to the summit of many of the world’s most famous peaks,
including Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, Mount Jaungfrau
and Mount Brighthorn in Switzerland. His adventurous spirit has led him on hikes
through the Andes Mountains and the lost city of Machu Pichu, to river rafting
and exploration of rain forests in Costa Rica. Always seeking community involvement,
Terry has volunteered in fund raising efforts for The Children’s Hospital
of Southwest Florida, Hope for Haiti, Naples Community Hospital and Duke University
cancer research.
